Our Story
Electric4U is the new sister company of Plumb4U which has been trading for 20 years having been formed in 2001 by Clive Holt an ex City software engineer who gave up the commute and formed his own Plumbing company. One evening in late 2020 Clive and his wife Donna (who are both trained engineers) were talking about the future of energy conservation in the UK and the fact that Plumb4U was becoming more and more involved in work requiring electrical installations. In fact Plumb4U had started employing existing NICEIC electricians as sub-contractors and already had a fledgling business.
They also recognised that the future of energy conservation in the UK relied upon renewable technologies more than ever before – and they saw electricity as a likely future replacement for gas in the longer term and were asked quite often to install air source heat pumps, smart heating installations and thermal stores.
In addition, Donna argued that few people call a Plumber when they need an Electrician, so she suggested to Clive that they create a new sister company called “Electric4U”. Clive thought it was a good idea, but was pretty busy with Plumb4U, so he persuaded her to give up her work in the City and put her electronic engineering degree to good use. Finally, with some of his existing Plumb4U clients, people and processes to get going – Electric4U was founded in January 2021.
